MK Midwife - Woman Focused Care

I will provide ‘one to one’ midwifery antenatal and postnatal care at a mutually convenient place and time, in a relaxed and unhurried environment. I can arrange antenatal screening (usually through the NHS) for scans and blood tests that you may wish to choose and make referrals if necessary.

I will visit you in your home with unhurried appointments to enable you to have the time, support and information you need to discuss and any issues and concerns you may be experiencing or have experienced in a previous birth. During this time we will get to know one another, so I won’t be a stranger at your birth. You will be cared for by a dedicated, professional, friendly, understanding and supportive midwife. A person you choose, you like and will come to know and trust.

I offer suggestions, information and advice, when it is asked for, to empower you to make decisions and choices during your pregnancy, birth and up to 6 weeks after birth of your baby. I will impart my knowledge and expertise with breast feeding, offering, encouragement and guidance and will be available to you, as you adjust to family life with your new baby.

I am able to support your choices of where and how you birth your baby. I will care for you wherever you choose, whether you have a home and/or water birth, even if you have had a previous caesarean birth www.vbac.com. Home births are not cancelled due to staff shortages!

Homebirth supported by a known midwife has repeatedly been proven to be as safe, if not safer, than hospital birth for the majority of women. It offers enormous physical and psychological advantages for you and your family: Labour is shorter, fewer drugs and medical interventions are needed, the normal vaginal birth rate is higher, babies are born in better condition and women have greater birth satisfaction. If you choose a hospital birth or need to be transferred to hospital for any reason, I will accompany you and your birth partner. I will remain with you as your advocate and birth supporter, where you will be able to continue to utilise my clinical expertise and advice.
